If they buy them for you set them aside and pull out the bucket full of receiving blankets you will get from the Hospital and from your family and friends. Why you ask? Because those can be used as PREFOLD/FLATS to place inside your Cloth Diaper cover and trust me you will have PLENTY of those to use as Burp rags, Blankets and Poo catchers.
Pick out the ones you want to use for diapering your baby and set those aside. Now go through your husbands clothes and find old COTTON or flannel t-shirts. Why? BECAUSE YOU CAN TURN THOSE BAD BOYS into cloth diaper prefolds as well. Cut them up into large squares and set them aside.
If you didn't get any covers from your baby shower, don't fret there are so many things you can do to afford your Covers. First you want to check around your area if they have a group page for Buying, selling and trading Cloth diapers. Luckily for me, Boise has a Buy Sell Trade for USED cloth diapers. If you don't then that's alright. Check Craigslist they have a lot of posts on Cloth diapers if still you come up empty handed, go ahead and look around amazon for the covers, you will probably spend around fifty to a hundred dollars.
Make sure you buy 6 ONE SIZE covers and 3 NEWBORN covers. BLUEBERRY is the a great brand for ONE size and Rumperooz are great for newborn.
If you didn't decide to cloth diaper as soon as your baby was born that's okay just pull out the old receiving blankets and towels. Some places like Other Mothers or handy down Children store will sometimes have Cloth Diapers also check yard sales, plenty of mothers have scored big on garage sales.
If you are you know how to sew or know how to operate a sewing machine, there are many easy links on how to turn old tshirts into fitteds. Bellow are a few links on tutorials.
